My love of New Kent Winery at Dombroski Vineyards started over a year ago on a drive to explore our region which I often do alone. Driving up to this beautiful winery is reminiscent of a large cozy lodge with sweeping verandas front and back and views of the vineyards.
To often be greeted at the door by Joe Dombroski, the owner, with a warm welcome was unlike anything I experienced at any other Virginia winery this large. For me often traveling alone, I will get a glass of wine and sit in the corner chair to catch up on reading if it’s in the winter or find one of the many seating options outside when the weather is nice to “take in the view”.
I have had the great privilege with a former social wine group to get a group tour & history of the winery last year. I have also attended numerous cooking classes/wine dinners hosted downstairs with the chefs of restaurants from the Richmond area.
The winery hosts many events from Friday night music /food trucks, a car show, wine festival, running races along with weddings/special events too .
The award winning wines offered are vast and for every palate. My personal favorites are the Reserve Chardonney, the Vidal Blanc, The Meritage & the White Merlot. Yes a WHITE Merlot! They have small plate menu options available to have something to nibble on with your wine.
What sets this winery apart from others is its true gracious hospitality by Joe & Jo Anna Dombroski, the owners. They welcome you to the winery as if you are a guest in their home.
Take a little time just a short drive right off I-64 in New Kent County to relax and explore New Kent Winery. I hope you “enjoy the view” from my photos! http://newkentwinery.com/
